In February, 2017, Songas organised training to empower small businesses in communities along the wayleave with business management and entrepreneurship skills.
A total of 100 small business owners from communities along the wayleave benefited from the short course aimed at building their understanding of what’s required to manage successful businesses. The business owners are representative members of 58 micro credit groups which were established by Songas in the Mkuranga, Kibiti and Rufiji districts.
In the photo below, the Commercial Manager of Songas, Mr. Sebastian Kastuli, addresses community members at Mbande primary school in Dar es Salaam prior to a donation of three classrooms constructed by Songas. The project will significantly reduce the number of pupils per classroom, thereby improving teacher- pupil relationships.
