The Young Scientist Tanzania (YST) 2019 exhibition, which showcased the innovation and talent of Tanzania’s most promising young scientists, was held on 31 July in Dar es Salaam.
“Since YST’s inception in 201l, we, as a leading sponsor, have been extremely supportive of the programme,” says Nigel Whittaker, Songas Managing Director. “We agree fully with YST’s goal; to further scientific discipline across the country and celebrate the excellent work of students in the outreach programme.”
This year, with the Minister for Education, Joyce Ndalichako as Guest of Honour, the exhibition was well supported and attended. The 95 high quality projects competing for top honours were conceptualised and created by 190 promising young scientists from 79 schools across the country. In addition, 1000 students from 26 schools in Dar es Salaam visited the exhibition.
Songas awarded the Biological and Ecological category where the proud winners received medals, trophies and well-deserved cash prizes.
The Pan-African strategy and communications firm, africapractice, has proposed to leverage on Songas’ YST sponsorship and amplify its commitment to strengthen skills and improve the education sector in Tanzania.
