SONGAS SUPPORTS WOMEN IN NEED

Songas’ female employees celebrated International Women’s Day this year by visiting women being treated for obstetric fistula at the Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania’s (CCBRT) Hospital in Dar es Salaam.

They were welcomed by the CEO of CCBRT, Brenda Msangi Kinemo, CCBRT management, staff and fistula survivors. Songas presented the hospital with a cheque for US$7000, and also had the opportunity to speak to the survivors, giving them encouragement and hope.

In rural Tanzania most women give birth at home. This significantly increases the risk of obstetric fistula should complications arise. Around 3,000 Tanzanian women are affected every year; leaving them incontinent. Sadly, they’re often excluded from their families and communities.
